Using debit or stop orders to pay bills doesn’t suit everybody, especially when invoices vary month by month and we are unable to predict how much will be deducted from our bank accounts. Additionally, managing multiple bill payments individually can be both inconvenient and time-consuming, requiring you to repeatedly enter beneficiary details, payment amounts, and other information for each service provider. This repetitive process can lead to errors and delays, making it challenging to keep track of your financial obligations.

Now there is a way to make multiple payments all in one place with a contactless system. Scan to Pay makes paying bills simple, secure and convenient by allowing you to pay a wide range of bills ‒ from financial services to utilities and more ‒ all on one app and powered by trusted providers such as EasyPay and Pay@

Types of bills you can pay

By downloading the Scan to Pay app, you can pay a wide range of service providers. These include financial institutions such as banks and insurance companies, municipalities for rates, taxes, electricity, and water (including direct payments to Eskom), and television or streaming subscriptions like Multichoice and satellite TV. Additionally, you can settle healthcare bills with medical providers and hospitals, pay education fees for institutions like UCT and Regenesys, manage retail store accounts, cover telecommunications expenses for phone and data plans, and even pay legal and professional service providers.

With new service providers continually being added, Scan to Pay ensures versatile payment options.

Scan to Pay’s partners EasyPay and Pay@ enhance the Scan to Pay app’s functionality, enabling users to access this wide range of billers and service providers and remit what they owe via a single seamless, reliable and secure platform that is trusted by millions of consumers and merchants alike.

How it works

Simply download the Scan to Pay app from your favourite app store, and you are ready to start making payments. Select ‘Pay bills’ and then the sector in which the service provider falls (for example ‘Municipalities’ or ‘Television’) and select the specific service provider you wish to pay. You will then need to enter your account details with that service provider, the amount of the invoice and then hit ‘pay’.

If you have a hard or even electronic copy of an invoice that has a QR code for payment, you can also use Scan to Pay.

Both EasyPay and Pay@ journeys work similarly. If the service provider has a ‘Pay via EasyPay’ or ‘Pay via Pay@’ option, go to the respective icon on the Scan to Pay app, enter the account number, and the platform will retrieve the invoice details, match the reference number with your bill, and confirm the amount you owe. You then select ‘pay’ and can choose to pay with the card stored on the app, a voucher, or even with cryptocurrency.

Why Scan to Pay?

Using the Scan to Pay app to scan a QR code or paying via partners EasyPay or Pay@ is convenient, offering bill payment options all in one place. All payments as well as stored card information is secure and encrypted, giving customers complete peace of mind that their transactions will reach the correct beneficiary. The immediacy of the payment means there is no time lag in the service provider receiving the funds or payment notification, avoiding costly late payment or reconnection fees.
